If you ever get completely locked out of Windows XP then you can still get back, providing you make this boot CD. With this simple guide you will have a vast amount of tools to fix your Windows XP installation.

Required:
Windows XP CDROM
One Blank CDROM
CD Writer
CD writing software
150-200Mb of hard drive space

You will also need BartPE, which is available in our Download section.

1. After downloading the BartPE.zip – unzip and run pebuilder to start the Wizard (you should have your Windows XP CD in the drive). You can skip the plugins, unless you know the features you exactly want, e.g. Applications, hardware support such as network cards, etc. Use the PluginHelp button to learn more.

2. Now let the wizard run (this will take time to extract files needed from your Windows XP CDROM). You should find that you have an ISO image now in the pebuilder folder. This image now needs to be written to the blank CDROM. Using Nero, launch the main program and close any dialog window that appears. Go to File then Open, browse to the pebuilder folder, select ISO in the File Type drop-down menu, this will allow you to see the ISO image, select the Image file and press OK. Nero will now display the main writing dialog box, make sure disc is set to Finalize if you wish to use this boot CD on another computer. Press ‘Burn’.

3. In order to use this CD you must change the CDROM drive as first Boot Device in the BIOS. Accessing the BIOS varies from computer to computer. Normally, you hold down the DEL key while the computer is booting. Once this is done, and you have rebooted you can now boot your computer from the Ultimate XP boot CD.
