| | FREE: vB iGallery (XML version) | | vB iGallery (XML version)
We expect this modification to be popular with many members, it uses quite a new flash technology which will be documented in the release. A demonstration is now available, showing you just a few of the cool features that have been setup. Click Here to view the demo version Due to issues with the Internet Explorer browser, this demo will not display correctly. It will work fine in any other browser and on a standard vbulletin forum, the only reason it fails on this forum is due to conflicts with other non-standard scripts we have running.
This will be released as a free modification within a few days. It is purely XML driven, therefore it does not use the vBulletin database, hence no SQL queries. All configuration is done by editing the XML file, this includes advanced features which can be set to override the built-in defaults.
The vB iGallery comes fully documented for use on vBulletin, however it only requires a few code changes to allow it to work on any HTML webpage.
It comes with 20 example images setup, with titles and descriptions - (Descriptions are only displayed when a thumbnail image is clicked on). All images used as examples have been used with permission from the authors, credits will be given to the users we have contacted about the use of their images. Please Note: The version in the demonstration may change before its final public release. Keep your eyes open... This is one modification you would not want to miss...

Just stumbled on a link to this ... consider my interest piqued.
Envisioning this as a prominent module on my vbAdvanced portal home page, linked to and featuring "latest pics" and/or "feature pics" from my Photopost gallery?
Please tell me I can make this happen. |

I'm just writing up the documentation for this modification before releasing it. As it stands at the moment, it does not use any database queries or templates, it is just pure PHP, Javascript and Flash. It is all configured via an XML file, which allows overriding default settings within the flash file.
It could be setup to call the latest images from any gallery script, its not that difficult to do, obviously it would need recoding to allow it to work this way. We have already had requests asking for it to be made to call images from vBulletin 3.7's Album system. I'm unfamiliar with Photopost (apart from installing it for users), I assume you are referring Photopost Pro?? I know we have Photopost vBGallery on this site, but its no longer available for use by members, and has not been updated.
I would really need to look into Photopost to see the actual coding that would be required. Adding this gallery into vBCMPS is fairly easy, and only requires module coding.
I do have another gallery in the pipeline, but it will be commercial only, and packed with features. This free one is the basis for a future commercial version, but with much more integration with vBulletin.
Once I get the documentation finished on this modification and released it, I'll look at various integrations with other scripts.
Thanks for your interest!

Yes, I'll be running Photopost Pro. Just purchased it today, matter of fact. Feels like karma.
Thanks for the prompt, detailed response. Very excited about the potential here. I'll be watching closely for updates. |

I've done most of the documentation for this product now - a more detailed document will be drawn up and made available online.
The advanced parameters that this product has is far beyond most users to use, however if they require them they will be able to view them all on this site. I have only added about 3-4 override parameter settings in the full documentation, yet there are over 30 possible additional settings each one having several settings.
The actual full vbulletin integration would be very complex which would do away with the XML population completely, and make the modification very versatile.
I'm hoping to release this XML version later today.

I have nothing close to the skillz to install and integrate something like this myself, unfortunately. Are you going to be offering installation and/or limited integration services? |

The actual install of this XML version is very simple. Basically, its just a case of uploading some files/folders (already setup) and editing one template for a link - but thats it. There are many other features which can be setup, like globe glow, camera setup, etc.
What I was referring to is a future version, which would be easy to install but have many attributes that could be changed.
The documentation I have now completed for this product, but I will publish the more advanced features on here. |

Well, you have this colonist's appetite thoroughly whetted, my friend.
Brilliant concept, particularly so for how I intend to use it, as you will see.
I'll be among your first customers. |

I've now released the XML version on here and at this url: vB iGallery - The Ultimate Xperience (XML Based) - vBulletin.org Forum
It has been quite popular over at vbulletin.org and made me re-think some of the new features people have asked about. Input is always a good thing, from an outside perspective.
