The £10,000 Prize Bank (Scam)
Earlier today I received this in the post... yet another legal scam, but you always find people falling for these. I've added all the text in red. The £10,000 Prize Bank - FINAL Notification My postal address
was here..... Dear Mr ... This is YOUR ONLY COPY of this final notification For the records I did not receive a first notification! Congratulations on being chosen Mr ....! You are the SOLE HOLDER of this £10,000 PRIZE BANK NUMBER 00-00-00. When we receive the winning £10,000 PRIZE BANK NUMBER, with a valid unlock code, the bank will release the £10,000. Congratulations and well done! Okay, how was I chosen? I have not even entered any prize draws or competitions. Congratulations, but I have not done anything! As well as the £10,000 that can be claimed today, the Bank has released some new prizes, including Dell computers, £1,500 cash, diamond jewellery, Rolex watches and Plasma TV's. Convenient, probably bought that lot in bulk at discount prices! But hang on, these are new prizes, what are the prizes before? To obtain your unlock code call* us on our 24hr claim line: 09063 430 967. Then, listen out for your Prize Bank Number, for postal details see overleaf, or claim using our fast text* service by sending the word REWARDA to 88100. (Check your inbox is not full.) IF YOU DELAY YOUR CLAIM, MR ..., SOMEONE ELSE WILL CLAIM WHAT IS YOURS. I am really glad that I can send a reward that is already yours and hope to hear from you very soon. Yours sincerely, on behalf of The Prize Bank Consortium, Sheila Walker P.S. I can personally guarantee that this offer is exclusive to you from the Bank and that you can claim and will receive the reward you unlock today. Now lets look at the back of this scam letter! The small print!!! Always read it! The phone call for the so-called unlock code: Price: £1.50 per minute. Mobile call vary, maximum call time 6mins 55secs. Texting will result in total of £7.50 (5 x £1.50 texts ) + your standard network charge. You must be over 18. So we now have roughly £7.50 in charges, but wait they also want me to pay a further £6.95 for package and damage waiver charge! Well, look what we also have here... a minimum reward of 100 x £20.00!! So they want me to pay them nearly £15.00 to get £20.00 back... WOW... I end up with an extra £5.00 after all that! Let's look at this from another perspective. Why would a company offer me £10,000 - well it doesn't - read the P.S. part ( I will receive the reward I unlock today). No mention that it is £10,000 there! Why write to me, asking me to phone them for a unlock code, they could have phoned me - its cheaper! Besides, why would a company charge me to give me a reward, why don't they just deduct that fee from my so-called reward, it does state cash alternatives maybe given! END RESULT: They are asking you to purchase your Prize! Oh well, where's my bin for this scam letter?
