Try turning off the Earthlink accelerator. Personally I would get rid of
since misleading users that there is acceleration by only partially
downloading the contents of images is NOT accelerating you connection. Not
downloading some of a web page's content is not acceleration your
connection. You can really speed up your speed by configuring the browser
to not download images at all, but that makes for boring browsing.
Turn off any popup blocker. I don't bother using the crippled webnews
interface to newsgroups. It could perhaps require using a popup to write
new posts, and your popup blocker is blocking that new-post popup.
