HELP!!! Windows XP extremely unstable

Hello, im typing this post from another computer. My laptop seems to have
encountered a serious error whereby in windows you can only see the icons of
things, such as the start menu button, or just the computer symbol without
the words 'my computer' below it. Thus accurate navigation is extremely
difficult and tedious. Also, any non-built in windows programs refuse to work
(plus a few things like IE and Msn messenger) and i get two error messages
which of course are without any text. I have resetted the computer 3 times
and it has not helped. Prior to this serious error however, i had the Trojan
Vundo on my computer, which seemed to be resisting attempts to be found and
removed by the symatec removal tool i downloaded before.I am out of options,
but is there anyway of recovery through MS-DOS perhaps?.I cannot format the
drive as there is important documents and files I need to recover somehow.
Help is needed urgently and would be greatly appreciated.

Download a copy of Ultimate Boot CD for Windows
http://www.ubcd4win.com/
This is a selfbooting XP CD that contains a number of utilities. You
will be able to save your files to floppies, USB Keys (provided you
have plugged them in BEFORE you boot UBCD) or you can use the CD
burning apps provided if you have a CD burner on your laptop.

Once you have saved your data, bookmarks, address books etc. reformat
your laptop and reinstall your OS and software.

Re: HELP!!! Windows XP extremely unstable

Thanks, suprisingly it all worked. Its about time they stopped relying on
floopy disks for boot disks.
