Every time I try to access Microsoft Update, I receive an error code:
0x80245003 and I have tried every cure posted on the internet without
success. I also cannot access any updates from Office Update. It seems that
all Microsoft update websites have suddenly died on my computer, and I have
not made any software or settings modifications to cause it. I have scanned
for viruses with McAfee 2006 and scanned for spyware with Windows Defender
and nothing was found. I have turned off all firewalls, cleared my internet
cache and cleared all downloaded objects for internet explorer ... nothing
works. |

I am having the same problem, and have been around and around with Microsoft
technicians. I have been able to access Update a single time after a
multitude of deletings, renamings, and searchings. Microsoft Update works
for the next try, ONLY! This is a very frustratin experience.
While the technicianhave been very nice, and polite, the information and
instructions they regurgitate have been nearly useless, so far. It is
driving me nuts. |

This worked for me.
1. Rename the Update temporary folders.
===================================
1. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following
command in the opened window.
Net stop WuAuServ
2. Click Start, Run, type: %windir% and press Enter.
3. In the opened folder, rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to Sdold.
4. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following
command in the opened window.
Net start WuAuServ
2. Remove the corrupted Active X control
=====================================
1. Open Interent Options
2. On the General Tab choose Settings under Temporary Internet Files
3. Then click on View Objects.
4. Right Click WuWebControl Class and choose remove
5. Right Click MuWebControl Class and choose remove,
next
6. Delete the file c:\windows\system32\wuweb.dll
7. Delete the file c:\windows\system32\muweb.dll
The above steps will help us remove the ActiveX controls for Windows Update
and Microsoft Update. Then will download a new one to instead of the
corrupted one.
