computer running extremely slowly now

Hi
I left my computer on over night Saturday, and when I came back to it on
Sunday, it was running extremely slowly (but running fine in safe mode). I
tried to restore it to an earlier date, and I noticed that it automatically
updated on Saturday night. The restore failed to work correctly, and I tried
a repair using the repair disc that came with my computer. I'm wondering if
anyone else is experiencing very little performance after the update, and if
I should just go ahead and reinstall windows.
