DigitALL is on a distinguished road
Hello with a question...

Hi,

I was supposed to post long time ago but here I am.
Very nice site and very well maintained!

I am looking for the hack to control the server overload so that only a certain usergroups could log during the "crisis".
Would you such a hack or could anyone please direct me where I could find such hack?

Hi DigitALL,

Thanks for the comments!

I know of the hack you are referring to, I've seen it around on my travels - probably on www.vbulletin.org or www.vbhacks.com. I suppose it would depend on your server configuration, with respect to 'server loads' - we have a script on this site, but its not linked into vbulletin, it just monitors server load @ 1, 5 & 15 mins intervals and shows other stats without us accessing the server directly. It would be possible to create a hack to do what you need, but you would also need to consider the new usergroup tables if you are going to upgrade to vbulletin 3.7 - when its gone gold (probably January 2008). I've been testing it out on the server today and reported a couple of bugs on the beta version 2, which they fixed within a few hours.

You can view the status script we use on here at this url www.digitalport.co.uk/status.php - its quite an old script and works only with Cpanel installed on the server, we do have Plesk available, but I don't really like it.
