pleas help me my comps gone funny

Sounds like you have a possible driver either missing or corrupt.

Have a look in your device manager...

Right-click on My Computer, select Properties
Select Hardware tab
Now press Device Manager
A box should appear showing you all devices, if you see any icons with a yellow exclamation sign, this means the driver is either not installed correctly or missing. Right-click on it and select Update Driver. XP should now re-install the driver from its database.

See if that works, if not post back on here.

Is the unknown device indented under anything?

If a printer was connected and no longer, then it would not show up in the Device Manager. The Device Manager only shows devices that are connected to your PC at the moment.

Sorry I missed this post...

Your symptoms don't necesssarily point to a hardware failure. Any recently installed software, virtual or normal drivers could also cause the same problem.

Without actually looking at the computer its hard to say exactly. With Windows XP it is possible to repair quite a few problems using the Recovery Console which can be found on the XP CDROM.

Hope to see you back on soon!
