I am about to be given a present of a scanner (belated birthday gift) with slide and negative adapter included in the spec. The following two have been suggested to me: Epson 1670P and HP Scanjet 3970. Have any of you used either of these two? If you have I would appreciate hearing from you what you think of them, and whether they are reliable and reasonably easy to use.

I particularly want one to copy old slides and negatives from Scuba diving holidays.

Personally, I would opt for the Hewlett Packard... You may think why?

Reason: Most Hewlett Packard driver updates can be found on Windows Updates, with Epson this is not the case. Especially with using Windows XP.
