Post Site Coding and Modifications being Updated

Digital Port has grown considerably over the years; in this time we've improved many parts of the website and now we develop enhancements for other websites to utilize. Many of these enhancements we provide free of charge and fully support, however we are changing the way some of our modifications perform and display.

We will be demonstrating these new techniques on the site within the next few days, currently these are in development.

Many sites now use jQuery for Lightbox, which is a script that allows webmasters to show thumbnail images larger on a page without reloading the page. However, the Lightbox script adds approximately 100k of javascript to a page, therefore we are using Thickbox which is only 20k and offers far more features.

During the next few days we are implementing a compressed format of the jQuery coding into the website, this will speed up a number of features across the site, and allow us to add more features.

Our XEON Mp3 Player will be changed to use the jQuery coding, so you can see the difference yourself. If there is enough interest in this version it will be released with the required changes needed to use the jQuery method of displaying the Mp3 player. This method does require extra files, template and CSS changes. Installation would be classed as medium since you would also need to edit javascript files, depending on your website configuration.

We have added a donation link to the frontpage (using a jQuery Thickbox), which in Firefox will open a flash-based PayPal Cheque allowing you to enter a value and send. However, in Internet Explorer 6.0 it fails due to a conflict in the embed code for the flash file. A workaround will be looked into, and implemented in a few days - needless to say, this will also be looked at, in some of our modifications using the same framework. A few CSS issues have also shown up between browsers, these will also be fixed. Anyone wondering where the paypal cheque donation modifcation come from, it is developed by us, and pending release - we thought this was a good idea to show you. Eye-catching design!

We aim to have this demonstrated on the frontpage within a few days.
