:!: Digital Port users would have experienced problems this afternoon, between 15.00hrs and 16.00hrs. The issues related to login and registration, which looked as if you were being logged in and failed.

These were caused by a few errors deriving from our database tables, and have now been repaired.

 We are checking our web logs at time of the incident, because this does not happen normally and we had problems last month with bandwidth theft.

Thought I'd post why our main database became corrupt.

We have been bombarded lately by search engine 'spiders' or 'bots' - however on Wednesday, many pages were being hit at the same time by AskJeeves, this caused too many SQL queries and corrupted part of the database.

This month we have been hit by AskJeeves 27,664 times and this accounted for 1.4Gb of data transfer.... which is a lot for a site this size! :?
