 Digital Port Report Jan '06
2005 was a fairly busy year for Digital Port, one of the biggest changes was the scripts we use on the site. We used free scripts from September 2003 until June 2005, and then all scripts were changed to commercial and then modified for our use. The cost of these scripts alone totalled nearly $300.00, not including support costs. A recent survey shows the latest data regarding our overall performance so far. Here are the current details. Pages indexed on main search engines globally: Indexed Pages: Engine: Pages: Google: 198,000 MSN Search: 252 Yahoo!: 1,220 AlltheWeb: 1,190 HotBot: AltaVista: 1,210 Total Indexed: 201,872 Backlinks to Digital Port Backlinks: Engine: Backlinks: Google: 132 MSN Search: 23 Yahoo!: 509 AlltheWeb: 463 HotBot: AltaVista: 498 Total Backlinks: 1,625 Google has so far indexed 198,000 pages from our site, hence why we receive approximately 1,000 visitors a day. Our page rank on Google has not yet been set due to directory move awhile ago, and can take up to 2 months to show. The reason why Google has such a high figure, is due to the automated process used to generate a sitemap every 24hrs and notify Google. Over 10% of people that visit Digital Port add us to their favorites, this is quite high considering we have approximately 1,000 visitors per day. Last year we received in excess of 2 million visitors and delivered over 3 million pages (these figures are approximate due to some webstats which became lost!). This year already looks set to improve upon this again. We submit our site every 2 weeks to search engines, so they get the most up-to-date content we have to offer. Every hour the website synchronizes with a number of newsgroups related to information, so all news, tips and questions are always available. I would like to thank all of the community members for supporting us during 2005, and especially to those that have donated which has made Digital Port what it is today.
